The story is about how life changes into a wasteland controlled by a cruel government, and there are well.. used to be 13 districts, that are treated very poorly. The main focus though, is on a girl called Katniss.Every few years there is a “Competition” to win food supplies for their district amongst children aged 8-18 in which there names are selected on random. Unfortunately, Katniss’s sister gets chosen but she volunteers to go for her. Leaving her friends and family behind she has to go through many hardships, especially since she has to kill the other opponents to win, and the same goes for them…
What happens in the Games will change everything, all because of Katniss..
This book is a real shocker, it’ll keep you gripped on every line until the very end, Suzanne Collins got her inspiration from a very strange source (find out more here). Cleverly written and superb series, look out for the rest of the books!
