As the title suggests, 'A History of Scotland’ is about the history of Scotland. I enjoyed reading this because Neil Oliver
brings the history to life and tries to separate the myths and legends from the
truth. It is well written and has lots of facts about famous Scots like Robert
the Bruce and William Wallace. The history ranges from the Picts to modern day
Scotland and everything in between. Some of the chapters include ‘Project
Britain’, ‘Money’, ‘Last of the Free’ and ‘Bishop makes King’.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in
Scotland. It also includes how Britain was formed. It contains some important
things in history that just haven’t been passed down like the document of
Scotland’s Independence. Though it may be a bit biased on Scotland’s side
sometimes, it is about Scotland’s history so it should be. I would recommend
it to anyone who likes Scotland and would wish to know more about its history.
