This story centres on a fifteen year-old girl named Clary Fray who lives in New York with her mum and her best friend Simon. Clary is just a typical teenager until one night when she goes to a club with Simon. There she watches as three mysterious people with weird black tattoos murder someone, then continues to watch as the murder evidence, including the body, just disappears. Soon after, Clary's mum mysteriously disappears and she is attacked by a lizard-demon like thing. Narrowly avoiding death, she is soon tossed into a whole new world that she was never able to see until now. She meets the three teens who "murdered" the "boy", including a very handsome one named Jace. She learns that they are Shadow-hunters, secret warriors of both human and angel blood with the job of ridding the world of demons. Also add in the fact that they walk the earth with Downworlders, who include Vampires, Werewolves, Fairies, and Warlocks. Clary's life is soon intertwined into a mystical off balance that involves a dark and dangerous Shadow-hunter named Valentine and the search for a mystical cup.

I recommend this series because it is so interesting and if you like reading adult fantasy books you will fall in love with these books as I did.
