The Hunger Gamesby Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games is set in the city of Panem ( based on America) it’s in the not so far away future and takes place in district 12 . Katniss (‘’Katnip’’) volunteers to take her sister, Primrose’s , spot in The Hunger Games, a annual battle for survival . Where 24 people go in but only one can come out as victor ..... This book is mainly aimed to slightly older readers (12+) and is a great read for something different as its romance and thriller and murder in one, its one of a set of three fantastic books .

Review: The Hunger Games by Susanne Collins

This book is based on a fascinating futuristic world. Once a year all 12 districts sacrifice one young man and woman between the ages 12 and 18 to fight to the death in remembrance of the uprising of the districts against the Capitol. In a result, the Capitol defeated the 12 districts and the 13th was destroyed. As a result the Capitol introduced the Hunger Games so the districts would not form another uprising. When sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen came forward to replace her younger sister as volunteer she entered the games, alongside Peeta Mellark. The two young candidates leave there home and make their way to the Capitol in preparation of the games.

I would highly recommend this book as I was unable to put it down. The imagery was outstanding and by the end you really felt as if you knew the characters. I enjoyed the thrill and the intensity of the games, also the excitement of the two lovers.

The Hunger Games is about a group of children, from the 12 districts, selected to kill each other in an arena and the last one alive wins. Everyone should read the Hunger Games because it is an action packed book and also has a good story line.
