Cherub: The Recruit by Robert Muchamore

I read the first book of the Cherub series by Robert Muchamore today -The Recruit. I would say I really enjoyed the book because of the humour, fighting, storyline and the characters. To give a brief explanation of the story it's about a young 12 year old boy named James Adams. He is a normal boy and has a normal life with his mum, step-dad and little sister (Lauren Adams) in North London.

Then one day his life changes when his mum dies and he is taken to a care home and recruited into a spy organisation for children called Cherub. Were they train kids to fight and be more intelligent than the average child. It's about his life going from school boy to secret agent and going on his first mission. James meets lots of friends along the way and overall is a very good book to start a very good series.

So I would highly recommend reading this book and the rest of the series as it keeps you gripped and hooked and is fun to read. There is romance, fighting, jokes, dramatic parts and missions.

Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult

Handle with Care is about Willow O’Keefe, a 5 year old girl that was born with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) Type III – a brittle bone disease that makes walking or even a sneeze dangerous. One wrong step and she’s back in a cast. But winning the case means losing her best friend Piper, and telling the world that she wishes her much longed for daughter was never born.

George’s Marvellous Medicine By Roald Dahl

I like George’s Marvellous Medicine because is this book is about a young boy, George, who has a grizzly old grandma with revolting eating habits. When he can't stand her any longer, George decides to cure her nastiness for good. He concocts a very special medicine which is as nasty as she is. In the end the result aren't all they expected but what actually happens you will need to read to find out.

I would recommend this to younger readers. Because is is funny and its good if you like fantasy story .

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

I am writing a review of Percy Jackson and the Sea Of Monsters by Rick Riordan. In at the start of this book Percy and his friends meet Grover in a new school after their last meeting last summer in the Lightning Thief. When they get there they are attacked by cannibals, and later on they face more and more difficult challenges. Crossing the sea of monsters was fascinating. They also return to camp half-blood and find out that Luke has poisoned Thalia’s tree.

I think that people who like action and fascinating, descriptive books should try this because the author describes the characters and the background very well. It can take him a couple of chapters to explain all what happened. I recommend this book for people aged 10-14 as it is interesting but challenging for young ones and simple for older people.

By Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett

It is a young half blood son of Poseidon god of the sea who has a nightmare about his Friend Grover in trouble . So Percy and his friends Tyson and Annabeth have to fight all sort of monsters .

People should read this book because it is very descriptive and so interesting. And its a very popular book, but i think that the book is better than the film.

BY FAITH

This story is about a boy who didn’t know he was a wizard. On his 11th birthday a giant called Hagrid came to his house and gave him a letter and a cake he also told him that his mother and father died protecting him aginst Voldimort and that’s how he got a scar on his head that made him famous in the wizard world. The letter that Hagrid gave him said that Harry was accepted into Hogwarts witch craft and wizardry . When he was at Hogwarts he met too people called Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

I think people should read this book because it leaves you wonting more and as you go along the stories you see the characters grow up.

How pretty do the shelves look?

I've added a pile of new stock to the Adult Fiction - so much I've had to switch out some of the display shelves!

I've also created a 'Adult' Graphic Novel section which includes titles like Watchmen by Alan Moore and Older Teen Manga.

Reference has also seen some changes - I've reduced the collection but I've added Ripley's Belive it or Not, Guinness Book of World Records 2012 and 2012 Top 10.

Also now found in reference are the Issues series. They now sit next to Essential Articles (which are in the pretty coloured folders on the bottom shelf)  which will hopefully make finding resources for a discursive eassy easier!

I've also added new stock to the upper library non-fiction collection. Keep an eye out for -

Alex's Adventures in Numberland: Dispatches from the Wonderful World of Mathematics by Alex Bellos

Special Forces War on Terror: True Stories of the Deadliest Missions Behind Enemy Lines in Afghanistan and Iraq by Nigel Cawthorne

Flags of Our Fathers; Heroes of Iwo Jima by James Bradley and Ron Powers

Life and Laughing: My Story by Michael McIntyre

Mud, Sweat and Tears by Bear Grylls

Catch Me Before I Fall by Rosie Childs and Diane Taylor

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Twilight is a really interesting book. It is about vampire and a normal girl who fall in love but Edward (the vampire) is scared in case he hurts Belle (the human).

Twilight is a romance and action book. I like Twilight because it is sweet and I like vampires.

by Candy pop x

This book is about girl called Bella that moves to Forks and meets a vampire called Edward who she falls in love with.

I really did not like this book as i found it very boring and unrealistic. Normally I like fantasy books but to me this book didnt make a lot of sense.

Gears of War: Aspho Fields By Karen Travis

This book is the first in the series of the gears of war books and there is four and more are coming out. It is about the battle for survival on the planet Sera beetween the humans and locust ,which are monsters that came from the ground. As well as this the book is mainly about flashbacks ,which are before the locust came. These flashbacks are about Operation Leveler where the three main characters fight their first battle, which might be their last.

I found the book an enjoyable book. It was very describtive and has lots lots of thrills which you don’t expect. This book is one of the best book i have read and will read the rest of the series.

Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison

Everyone should read...

Author: Louise Rennison.
Title: Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging.

What’s this book about? This book is about a girl named Georgia who sees her life as totally un-perfect and drab. When a really fit boy (sex god) moves to her school and falls in love with wet Lindsay she is not happy at all! When the sex god realizes Georgia is the one for him, will the age difference put him off?

Why should everyone read the book? Everyone should read this book because it’s basically the life of most teenage girls all in one book! I would say it’s a book for girls but maybe a boy would read it to find out what runs through the mind of his girl mates.
