The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

This is a brilliant book in my mind. So far, I have read the first book in the series, which is simply titled as ‘The Hunger Games’. The book was about a girl called Katniss Everdeen who hunts for a living and supports her family as they live in poverty in District 12. There is something called a reaping every year in each District where one boy and one girl is chosen to represent their District in the Hunger Games. In the reaping, as you get older you ave your name in the big ball more times and the more you put your name in, you get food for your family to live on. Katniss is older and so has more chance of getting picked for the games than her sister. At this reaping, her sister is chosen and Katniss volunteers as tribute. The boy who was chosen was a boy called Peeta Mellark. The twenty four tributes all make their way to the Capital, where they get training for when they start killing each other in the arena. After a couple weeks training everybody goes into the arena, where they stand on their platforms, ready for the big countdown. There can only be one winner in the bloodbath to death and so may the odds be ever in your favour...

verybody should read this book, if you haven’t already, because it is a brilliant book that I couldn’t put down without finishing and the picture that is created in my head was so vivid that it felt real. This is what I look for in a book and that is why I love it so much.

The Hunger Games is a fantastic book with a story line which will put you in massive suspense. The Hunger Games is about twelve districts which announced war against the Capitol. The Capitol won, and the twelve districts are enrolled to participate in a thing called ‘The Hunger Games’. The Capitol go round every district and pick one boy and one girl to be in the hunger games this is called the reaping. They have a few days to train before the games it’s self and then they are put in the games. The aim of the game is that there is one winner out of twenty four participants, the arena is controlled by the capitol and they can add things in like fire or animals during the hunger games or they are forced to kill one another.

Everyone should read The Hunger Games because it opens your imagination dystopian world and has a great story line.
