The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

This is a brilliant book in my mind. So far, I have read the first book in the series, which is simply titled as ‘The Hunger Games’. The book was about a girl called Katniss Everdeen who hunts for a living and supports her family as they live in poverty in District 12. There is something called a reaping every year in each District where one boy and one girl is chosen to represent their District in the Hunger Games. In the reaping, as you get older you ave your name in the big ball more times and the more you put your name in, you get food for your family to live on. Katniss is older and so has more chance of getting picked for the games than her sister. At this reaping, her sister is chosen and Katniss volunteers as tribute. The boy who was chosen was a boy called Peeta Mellark. The twenty four tributes all make their way to the Capital, where they get training for when they start killing each other in the arena. After a couple weeks training everybody goes into the arena, where they stand on their platforms, ready for the big countdown. There can only be one winner in the bloodbath to death and so may the odds be ever in your favour...

verybody should read this book, if you haven’t already, because it is a brilliant book that I couldn’t put down without finishing and the picture that is created in my head was so vivid that it felt real. This is what I look for in a book and that is why I love it so much.

By Missomc4

The Hunger Games is a fantastic book with a story line which will put you in massive suspense. The Hunger Games is about twelve districts which announced war against the Capitol. The Capitol won, and the twelve districts are enrolled to participate in a thing called ‘The Hunger Games’. The Capitol go round every district and pick one boy and one girl to be in the hunger games this is called the reaping. They have a few days to train before the games it’s self and then they are put in the games. The aim of the game is that there is one winner out of twenty four participants, the arena is controlled by the capitol and they can add things in like fire or animals during the hunger games or they are forced to kill one another.

Everyone should read The Hunger Games because it opens your imagination dystopian world and has a great story line.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

The book is about a girl who falls in love with a boy named Patch, there is something about him that she can't keep away from. Later in the book she finds out that Patch is an archangel and she is in the middle of a fight between archangels and nephilim . Everyone should read this series because it is breathtaking and amazing. I really enjoyed this series and I hope everyone else will have the joy of reading it. by Einstein

My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

The book is about a 13 year old girl who wants medical emancipation from her parents. Her sister Kate is dying of cancer and now one of her kidneys is failing. The doctors say she needs a kidney transplant and they want to take it from Anna who was made specifically to meet Kates medical needs. Matilda by Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl Matilda This book is about a very smart girl called Matilda, her parents are no help to her education, but her teacher finds something in her that no other child has. Catching fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire Catching Fire is the second book in the Hunger Games thrilling book series and I can assure you that this book is just as good as the first one. The capitol are not very happy with Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Meelark after there rebellious attitude in the 74th annual Hunger Games. Now it is the year of the quarter quell and anything can happen. But to Katniss and Peeta’s disbelief, they are chosen again to compete in the Hunger Games AGAIN!! Can they survive again! You will find out by reading the books.

By FapMen363

Catching fire by Suzanne is the second book in the sequel the hunger games. It is a brilliant and thrilling book and our favourite in the sequel. Katnisss and Peeta have already won the hunger games they won by gaining sponsers and saying to the public that they were in love at the end instead of having to kill eachother they attempeted to poison them selves, the government are not happy with Katniss as her love with peeta has fuelled the rebel fight against the government. They must now enter the hunger games again in a twist by the capitol, when rebels hear of this there is a plan to capture them from the hunger games. Soon enough a war breaks out between the districts. I would recomend this book because its amazing and we could not put it down!

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games are set in the near future in a place called Panem (America). The main character is called Katniss Everdeen. She volunteers to take part in the games to save her little sister Primrose. In the hunger games it can end two ways, if you win you are famous if you lose it means death. The other tribute Peeta Mellark joins her in the games. Only one can survive in the arena!

I have read all three books and they are great, when i finished one book I had to get the next one the next day. Every ending was a cliff-hanger. – owlninja1

I have read the first book and I want to read the other two books. It is very exciting and every chapter ends in a cliff-hanger. It is my type of book because it has adventure, death, love and comedy. I highly recommend it. – redangrybird10

Fantastic Fantasy Reads

With the first of The Hobbit movies due out today you may be looking for something to tide you over until part 2.

Obviously you can read The Hobbit and get the full story but if you already have or don't want to just now, here are Mrs. Wilson's suggestions:

The Hounds of Morrigan by Pat O'Shea
Pidge and Brigit must try and stop the Great Queen (Morrigan) from destroying the world. Not as wordy as Tolkien but an equally big adventure.

The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander
Taran is an Assistant Pig Keeper but when the magical pig Hen Wen disappears it's up to Taran to save her from the evil Horned King and discover his true destiny. Fast paced, exciting read. It includes the wonderful wonderful, ever hungry, Gurgi who speaks of crunchings and munchings.

Heroes of the Valley by Jonathan Stroud
Halli loves to hear stories of the past, when the Valley was defended by heroes against the bloodthirsty Trows. While he seems stuck being a farmer, larger forces are at work and when an old blood feud is rekindled it looks like he's going to get the adventure he's dreamed of. It's got some excellent one liners, loads of excitement but a darker side as well.

The Spook's Apprentice by Joseph Delaney
The local Spook has being keeping the County safe from evil for years but he is about to retire. Only one apprentice remains - Thomas Ward. Does he have what it takes to be a Spook? A more horror fantasy than the others on the list it's fast paced and totally enthralling.

Blart: The Boy Who didn't want to save the World by Dominic Barker
Blart has a destiny - he must stop the evil Zoltab - but he's much rather stay at home and look after his grandfather's pigs than save mankind. If you fancy more of a funny quest story this is the books for you. It's a charming, exciting and most importantly funny read.

Muddle Earth by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell
Sinister villain Dr.Cuddles is out to destroy Muddle Earth. It's up to Joe Jefferson (a regular boy) to try and stop him. He has the Wellies of power, the Woolly Gloves of Determination and a saucepan for a helmet. Clearly Dr.Cuddles will be quaking in his lair. This hilarious series is a bit of a parody of Tolkien but it is so much more. Entertaining, funny and wonderfully imaginative.

The Princess Bride by William Goldman
When Westley goes to make his fortune he is caputured by the Dread Pirate Roberts who leaves no surviors. His true love Buttercup gives him up for dead and tries to move on. Prince Humperdink (a not very nice man) decides to make  Buttercup his wife but just before the wedding Buttercup is kidnapped by a mysterious man in black. Is Westley really dead? Will Buttercup have to marry Humperdink? What are the dangers of the fire swap? Plus poison,l revenge, giants, miracles and ROUS (rodents of unusual size). A swashbucking, funny and thrilling read.
