If I Stay by Gayle Forman

If I Stay is about a girl who is seriously injured in a car crash and in her coma she is wondering whether she should live or die. :( We thought the book was very sad because the rest of her family dies she wants to as well.

We both loved it and would highly recommend it.

Red Centre by Chris Ryan: Part of the Alpha Force Series

Red Centre is about a survival group of teenagers called Amber (the team leader), Hex (the tec. genius), Alex (the new recruit), Li (the acrobat) and Paulo (the muscle) who create Alpha Force. At the beginning of the book they are in the Australian rainforest testing a game show when Paulo spots a terrorist, but how can this be as the man is in Jail? The story leads on from here in a tale of lies, scapegoat-ing, murder and enthralling twists.
I think this book is fantastic because it covers many of my favourite aspects of a book as it involves sarcastic quips as well. The story is well written and keeps you interested by making you not want to put the book down. I give it 5 stars out of 5 because it combines everything except romance.

THE DARWIN AWARDS BY WENDY NORTHCUTT

This is a book about people and how they die in different and funny ways. 180 bizarre true stories of how dumb humans have met their maker.

It is a very funny and I would give it four and a half out of five because they are not all funny.

Things I Know About Love by Kate Le Vann

The book ‘Things I Know About Love’ is by the author Kate Le Vann. It is about a girl called Livia who has Leukaemia and has been in and out of hospital for three years. Livia lives in England and goes over to America to visit her brother Jeff. She is keeping a secret blog about her time in America. While she is over there she falls in love with a boy called Adam but is scared because of her past relationships. I liked this book because it was a mixture of happiness, sadness and humour.

Dragon Ball Z Series by Akira Toriyama

The author of these books is Akira Toriyama. It is a series mostly about fighting and dragon balls. They are special things that revive the characters if they are downed. In these books there is a bad guy who comes down from a planet far away from the Earth and he is trying to take over the Earth.

Son Goku is the main character of the book and his son Gohan try to save the world from this beast of a man, Vegeta. He is an alien so he can turn into things and he transforms into a gorilla.

What I particularly like is the fighting and the fact that it is the worlds greatest manga.

Alex Rider: Snakehead By Anthony Horowitz

I think that Snakehead is the 3rd best out of the Alex Rider books; it is behind Storm breaker and Point Blanc.

But that’s just my opinion I am sure some people would disagree. Alex has just went to Australia to go on holiday but it all starts to go wrong when the SAS find him. Find out more when you read Snakehead as I don’t want to spoil it for you.

Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian is the last book in the Percy Jackson series and is possibly the most eventful. Percy finds out that Typhon (the worst monster that the gods ever faced) is back! He needs to defend Olympus from Kronos’ forces and wait for help.

I love this book because it is hilarious (like the rest of the series) and exciting at the same time. You may need to read the others to understand it, but if you understand it you will enjoy it.

By Dr. Pepper

Spooksville: The Howling Ghost by Christopher Pike

The book is very good and I would recommend it to any age because it is a exciting and sometimes it makes you wonder what is going to happen next. As you progress through the book it just get better and better and you might even get suspicious about the lighthouse.

The characters are very suspicious about a lighthouse because they think a ghost inside of it took a little boy and trapped him in the lighthouse. But at the end Watch
(the smart one) comes up with good plan to save their lives from the lighthouse that is on fire.

The Wickit Chronicles are about a boy who has a gargoyle and keeps it hidden from the rest of the town incase they blame him of witch-craft. Then a stranger comes into the town and catches the boy with the gargoyle. Will he spread the secret?

I give the wickit a 10/10 because lots of strangers come and you don’t know who is good and bad until the end so it makes you want to keep reading. I recommend this book to everyone who likes a short quick book and is very imaginative.

Gone by Michael Grant

The book I am going to write about is “Gone” by Michael Grant. It is the first in a series and is the most exciting book out of three books. There are supposed to be three more books to come out and I am quite excited for their release.

This book is set in Perdido Beach, California. One ordinary day, everyone aged fifteen and over disappears from Perdido Beach. Poof. Everyone aged fourteen and under are abandoned and trapped inside an invisible barrier and they soon discover that not the entire world is experiencing what they are, only Perdido Beach (which mean Lost Beach). They have to fend for themselves and scavange for food. The first few days of the FAYZ (as they called it - Fallout Alley Youth Zone) there was plenty supplies of food, but after everyone had eaten or stored everything for themselves, there was trouble.

Some people started developing some strange powers. They were known as the “freaks” to the “normals” – the people without powers. The “normals” start a kind of group, a sort of anti-freak group, to try and get rid of all people with powers.

I think this book is really good for anyone who is interested in non-fiction stories! I would recommend it to ages 12 to whatever age!

Waves by Sharon Dogar

This book is about a boy whose sister is in a coma and he doesn’t know why. The boy’s name is Hal and his two sisters are called Charlie (who is in a coma) and Sarz who is about 2. Throughout the book, Hal is trying to solve the mystery of his sister’s injuries while on a holiday to a place where he shared loads of memories with her. It is also the place where he found her lying in a coma on a rock on the beach. As he is on his holiday, he hears his sister, Charlie whispering to him through her and his mind while she is lying in a hospital bed, unable to talk.

I liked reading this book because you never know what will happen next and it always wants to make you read on.

Mates, Dates: The Secret Story by Cathy Hopkins

The secret story is a book by Cathy Hopkins. It is about a boy called Tony and a girl called Lucy. It is a typical love story between them. Underworld by Catherine MacPhail

Underworld is a book about a school trip that goes badly wrong. They visit caves and it collapses on everyone, killing their teacher. Six kids spend hours that feel like days underground, running away from something, but from what they don’t know. They eventually escape with all the kids in a state. They even claim they saw a Giant Worm that tried to eat them. I enjoyed this book because I could relate a lot to it – one of the boys has the same worst nightmare as me it scared me when I read it. At some points, I was scared and others, like when they got out, I was relieved; I was convinced they wouldn’t make it out. I didn’t out it down, unless I was told to, until I had finished it. It was amazing :).

It was also humorous and has its very own charm that made me read on!

My Book Report is on The Thin Executioner by Darren Shan. This story is about Jebel Rum a young boy who is from a family of executioners and whom wants to also be an executioner but doesn’t have the strength. And so the young boy sets out and an amazing and eventful quest to find the fire god with the aid of his slave. But will he have the courage when the time comes to kill the slave and win invincibility? The reason I like this non fiction thriller is because you are always on the edge reading never knowing what is going to happen next. Darren Shan is one of my favourite authors and I love his books especially this one. I recommend it to 12-16 year olds.

Luckily one of Alice’ friends let Alice use her computer to email Gemma. They are labelled ‘The Lip Gloss Girls’ by the rival gang ‘the hell cats’. But when Hannah Driscoll, the leader of the lip gloss girls, is accused of telling another member’s biggest secret, she is ditched by her friends. She is left with no friends but lots of enemies. Although after reading this, you might think that this is a really sad book about a girl who has no friends, but it does have a good ending. I like this book because it is a page turner and it is really well written. I would rate it 9/10 because of this. The recommended age for this book is 11 and above.

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

The author of this book is Sara Shepard from America. The book is about a group of girls who are best friends. The most popular girl is called Alison Dilaurentis, the rest of the girls in the friendship group are called Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer. The girl’s lives’ literally revolve the ‘amazing’ Alison. However one day Alison is murdered, this ruins the girl’s lives. The remaining girls drift away from each over as if they never knew each over. Afterwards (years later) the girls all get peculiar text messages which contain threatening comments, initialled by a sneaky unknown person ‘a’. The reason the initial is an ‘a’ is because the comments are all about Alison. This really scares the girls which once again bring them together.

This is the first book of the series; I think it’s the best book out of the series because it is the book where everything starts. Also the mysteries aren’t answered in the first book and then open a new mystery in the next. The answers to every mystery is answered in the end (this builds tension on the way). I also like it that the book is targeted for young teenagers this is because it relates to everyday teenage problems.

I would recommend it to all teenagers . . . don’t worry I won’t tell you what happens in the end!
Yours sincerely

This Is the One: Sir Alex Ferguson: The Uncut Story of a Football Genius by Daniel Taylor

This book is about Sir Alex Ferguson and his team Manchester United. A newspaper reporter talks about Man Utd’s games and behind the scene events. He talks about United’s results and the mood of the team and Sir Alex. It is a great book because you can hear what really happens at Manchester United and I also support them. The book goes into great detail about Sir Alex’s reaction after games. I don’t enjoy some of it because the writer sometimes writes about things that don’t make sense. I recommend it to ANYONE even if the don’t like man Utd .I really enjoyed this thoroughly.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

Twilight is about a young girl named Bella Swan who moves from sunny Phoenix to dreary forks to go live with her dad Charlie. He is head of the police force. Although nothing really happens in Forks, he is dealing with a serious case about people being killed by what seems to be animals. On her first day of Forks High School Bella finds a group of friends quickly and is settling in quickly. After being there for a couple of days she encounters on a boy in her year, the totally gorgeous Edward Cullen but Edward Cullen is not like other boys. He never sleeps and he doesn’t eat or drink anything but blood because Edward Cullen is a vampire. As soon as Bella and Edward meet, Bella is getting into all sorts of trouble. She gets mugged by a gang of boys and is almost run over by a car at school. Most importantly, she is in danger of getting killed by another vampire clan. When she gets a mysterious phone call asking her if she would choose her life over her mothers, her life gets even harder. She is forced to leave her dad and be under the watchful eye of Edward’s sisters Rosalie and Alice and brothers Jasper and Emmet. Will Bella stay out of trouble, big or small?

I enjoyed this book because it is funny at some parts and very thrilling at others. My favourite character is Alice because in ways I can relate to her because she is quirky and always fun to have around. My least favourite character is Jessica which is one of Bella’s friends. She is so self centred and thinks she is perfect. Overall it is a good book with different amounts of emotion to balance it out.

This graphic novel contains is a witty comedic and action orientated storyline. It has lots of different characters each with their own unique personalities. The art style is very interesting with a black and white sketchy look with classic comic book captions such as ‘whoosh’ or ‘crash’ .The story follows a young adult named Scott Pilgrim and his friends in Canada as they battle through life and work with their band ‘Sex-Bo-Bomb' .
